Workforce Demand Tools

The tools on this site utilize datasets from the Federal Bureau of Labor Statistics and the Georgia Department of Labor to help institutions make informed decisions about program offerings. Through data analysis, institutions can identify skill gaps in their current curricula and decide whether to update or develop new programs. Additionally, this data-driven approach enables the creation of more relevant course content, guides the design of new programs and microcredentials, and assists career services staff in providing students with current guidance on in-demand careers and salary trends. This strategic use of data enables institutions to ensure their graduates are well-prepared for the job market, thereby improving student success and enhancing the institution's reputation as a valuable partner in regional economic growth.

  • State and Regional Mapping Employment Data to Local Institutions (MEDLI) Dashboards: The MEDLI Dashboards (State and Regional) are designed to assist USG institutions in academic program development by aligning workforce data, instructional programs, and the Georgia High Demand Career Lists. This information can help institutions assess workforce demand both statewide and within a 50-mile service area to inform decisions about short-term credentials, certificates, and degree programs. (Provosts can request access for individuals at their institution by sending an email to jill.lane@usg.edu.)

  • ISA (Institutional Service Area) Tool: Maps institutions and local workforce development areas within a 50-mile radius of the institution’s main campus location. (Excel file)
  • coming soon High Demand Program Alignment Dashboard: Mapping of academic programs to the High Demand Career list. Can also be used to identify careers not currently linked to academic programs by typical education level.
